How to create a great term paper in one week

Although a school or college term is a seemingly long period of time, over which you learn a huge amount of information, what the term is actually intended to do is to teach you how to write and argue a point about a given piece of material. That means that it is possible to write a paper in one week, or even less, because what you are demonstrating is a learned skill, rather than a volume of knowledge. So, how can you construct a paper in one week?

Choose a Subject

The most essential step is deciding on a topic. Choose a title, and a question, that will allow you to play to your strengths; try to minimise the amount of work you will have to do, and focus on areas that you have an existing understanding of.

Read the Material

Whatever your topic, be it American Fiction, French History, Philosophy, spend one day reading your primary sources, to refine your approach, to clarify, for yourself, your argument, and to decide on how best to evidence your argument.

Spend a Day Planning

Now that you have spent three days preparing your evidence and your secondary sources, take a day to plan the essay structure. Write down one sentence for every proposed paragraph, and read this plan as an argument: does it make sense?

Write, Read and Edit

Turn sentences into paragraphs. Be clear in your writing, avoid jargon, and focus on the point that you are trying to make.

Spend the entirety of day 7 reading and editing your paper. Read through and edit as many times as you possibly can, do not get bored! Do not lose focus! Polish it to a high gloss. Follow these steps and you will, in one week, end up with a paper that demonstrates all that you have learned in the term! Easy.
